Why Intranasal Light Therapy is Alternative Medicine (for now)

The National Science Foundation has defined alternative medicine as "all treatments that have not been proven effective using scientific methods." The Institute of Medicine (IOM) in 2005 defined complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) as the non-dominant approach to medicine in a given culture and historical period.

Most people do not realize that this means that it is quite a high bar to climb to be recognised by the conventional medical community as a medicine that “works”. That common bar is to be recognised by a health regulatory authority such as the FDA of the US or Health Canada. Why is it a high bar? Simple: it costs millions of dollars to do the clinical trials to have the evidence to be recognised as medicine that “works” and not just “alternative medicine”. For a device like the Intranasal Light Therapy device to make a medical claim, say for treating hypertension, it would need clearances from regulatory bodies.

Here’s the catch. To obtain evidence that the regulatory bodies are satisfied with to support the medical claims, one needs to spend literary millions of dollars. Something that either only a cash rich company can afford or a big pharmacological drug company. All others fall into “Alternative Medicine”. Even if you’re well funded it is not likely that you will spend the millions to do something like this unless you are protected from others exploiting the results of the fruits of your labour. And therefore the requirement for even more money to protect your intellectual property. And more reasons that only the big boys can play this game.

There are exceptions of course – such as Genentech in its early days – getting the support of the venture capitalists. That’s a lot of money, a lot of equity dilution, and a lot of risk. Most of all, it is an exception.

So, Intranasal Light Therapy is Alternative Medicine….at least for now……

Blog for a new book on Intranasal Light Therapy

I am shifting to a new blog address for more structured information on the subject of Intranasal Light Therapy -http://intranasallighttherapy.wordpress.com/. It is also a project for a new book on the subject of Intranasal Light Therapy. Some random notes will still be posted here.

Enjoy.

The Life of the Body is in the Blood (Leviticus 17:11). Let's treat it so.

There is no disagreement between what the Bible says about the importance of blood and what the traditional Chinese doctors say about the importance of Blood to each person. Most Bible versions of Leviticus 17:11 would say that "the Life of the Flesh (meaning:body) is in the Blood".

In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), blood is closely associated with vital energy and is essential for nourishing the organs of the body.

Whether you are going by scientific evidence or by religious evidence, the primary principle is: take care of blood, keep its circulation moving and you are taking care of life.

You can do that in a non-invasive way by shining a certain light to the receptive nasal blood vessels as proposed by Qi-Light. Powerful hands are working here for the Bible also describes God as the "Father of Lights" (James 1:17).

Call this "Intranasal Blood Irradiation Therapy" if you like

I like to call this modality "Intranasal Light Therapy" (for complete description, go here). Wikipedia terms it "Intranasal Blood Irradiation Therapy". Some of the Chinese researchers call it "Endonasal Low Intensity Laser Irradiation Therapy".

What are the differences?

Nothing material. Except that I think "Intranasal Light Therapy" is probably the most apt. It embodies using laser and non-laser light (albeit that the application mainly involves that in the red wavelength and does not include ultraviolet light), perhaps should have been called "Intranasal RED Light Therapy" but that may potentially be limiting.

The use of "Irradiation" is scientifically accurate but in this day and age seems to suggest that there is some "radioactive radiation" involved, which is not true. "Irradiation" just describes something being radiated by light (or heat).

To add "Laser" to the description just invites the association with the high powered more destructive "laser" instruments and weapons. The inclusion of "low intensity" or "low level" is necessary when using the word "laser" because this is what it is - the energy is so low level that you wouldn't be able to detect any change in temperature with most devices. So no damage is done to the tissue other than the good things such as energizing the cells and improving blood properties in a positive way. To add all these terminologies is just going to make it a mouthful. And then there is the non-laser version to consider - the evidence supports that it works just as well as the laser version.

"Endonasal" is the same as "Intranasal", which means within the nose. The problem with "endonasal" is that I can't find that definition in many dictionaries.

So, I'll just stick to the simple, well-thought out term of "Intranasal Light Therapy".

Intranasal light therapy tackles atherosclerosis and heart disease

In atherosclerosis, the insides of large blood vessels become narrowed or clogged.

According to the National Institutes of Health's webpage on diabetes complications, this, also a cause of high blood pressure, results in:

  • Chest pain, also called angina. When you have angina, you feel pain in your chest, arms, shoulders, or back. You may feel the pain more when your heart beats faster, such as when you exercise. The pain may go away when you rest. You also may sweat a lot and feel very weak. If you do not get treatment, chest pain may happen more often.
  • Heart attack. A heart attack happens when a blood vessel in or near your heart becomes blocked. Then your heart muscle can’t get enough blood. When an area of your heart muscle stops working, your heart becomes weaker. During a heart attack, you may have chest pain along with nausea, indigestion, extreme weakness, and sweating. Or you may have no symptoms at all.
  • Stroke. A stroke can happen when the blood supply to your brain is blocked. Then your brain can be damaged.
There can be several causes for atherosclerosis: genetic predisposition, aging, high LDL cholesterol, diabetes. Compensation for the narrowing of the blood vessels can be achieved through reducing the viscosity of blood to improve blood flow/circulation, and/or dilating the blood vessel walls. There is research evidence to show that the Qi-Light intranasal light therapy method can both improve blood circulation and dilate the vascular walls (through the release of nitric oxide).

Intranasal light therapy, a form of blood irradiation therapy is a new therapy that is gaining in awareness in the Western mainstream medical community but already much researched and accepted in China.

A natural treatment for diabetes and its complications

Alex is a full-blown diabetes patient. He tries the intranasal light therapy device by attaching the light capsule to his nostril, switches on, and in minutes reports that he "feels more of his legs". That seems to be dealing with neuropathy, a diabetes complication.

Charlie is pre-diabetic. He chooses to use the device for his sinusitis (it worked for this). Three weeks later he reports that his blood sugar level is back to normal.

Five years ago I was diagnosed by Kaiser Permanente in Mountain View, CA as being prediabetic. Not sure what it meant at the time but I was instructed about lifestyle and diet changes. Basically to get off my butt and exercise more, and eat a lot of cellulose. That was hard for a person who felt no adverse change in physical performance at the time, and real busy on the computer. So no change.

2 years later I had in my hands on an intranasal irradiation device. I was happy to be a guinea pig to use the device and to see what would happen. I was convinced that my immune system would improve with regular use. You guessed right - my blood sugar level was back to normal after 3 weeks' use. This has been the case during my last 3 annual medical. It is yet still unclear the mechanism of how the light affects the diabetes complications but it seems to work with myself and the diabetes patients that I know.

There are scientific studies that support this. Read more here on diabetes, the complications and the effect by blood irradiation therapy , and why this works.

Perhaps intranasal light therapy is the the new secret to treating diabetes complications. Knowing that light is natural and has negligible side effects, and yet can do what it does, it does call for a serious look-into.

Recognition of intranasal blood irradiation therapy overdue

Intranasal blood irradiation, sworn as a wonder therapy by many users in China and a number of countries is yet to be appreciated to any notable extent in North America and most other countries. Many Russians and residents of several European countries would recognize the older "intravenous irradiation therapy" equivalent. Wikipedia has given an excellent exposition of these therapies as components of "Blood Irradiation Therapies". Note the amount of research already done. Most have been in Chinese or Russian languages. I'll go deeper into these discoveries in later postings. Its recognition is overdue.

Much information can be found in the website, Qi-Light.com. Studies and evidence support the effectiveness of the therapy for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, age-related diseases. I am a user of a portable intranasal irradiation device, and I can personally say that it has returned my pre-diabetic condition to normal and brought my cholesterol down.

Here's a picture of the device in use (from Wikipedia). Using it is as easy as pressing a button. The small controller does the rest.

I suppose I do have personal knowledge about the tests on the devices as well as anecdotal feedback. Some are quite remarkable and need to be shared.

More later.....
